Coronavirus Update 3-24-20

Dear Parishioners,

I hope everyone is doing well. Please check up on family and friends. I appreciate everyone who has checked up on me. I am in good health. I have plenty of food and toilet paper! A parishioner has sent me a couple of links concerning actions by the Vatican. The first is a plenary indulgence for praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet:

https://www.thedivinemercy.org/articles/vatican-grants-emergency-plenary-indulgence-divine-mercy-chaplet

The other is a request for all Christians to pray the Our Father at Noon tomorrow, the Feast of the Annunciation:

The Church remains open. I am grateful to see a car or two in the parking lot. That tells me someone is in the Church praying. We are keeping the Church open. However, we have to have this advisory on the door:

ATTENTION

OUR VOLUNTEER CLEANERS HAVE DONE THEIR BEST TO SANITIZE THE BACKS AND ENDS OF THE PEWS

WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT ALL SURFACES ARE SANITIZED

PLEASE SANITIZE YOUR HANDS AFTER ENTERING AND LEAVING THE CHURCH

DO NOT TOUCH ANY SURFACES OR TOUCH YOUR FACE

THANK YOU

I am sure you understand. We have a fresh bottle of Purell on the bookcase as soon as you come in. You can sanitize your hands. When you leave, don’t push open the door with your hands, but us a shoulder or elbow. A parishioner asked about Holy Water. The Holy Water container has plenty of Holy Water. It has blessed salt in it also. Take what you need. But, use a kleenex or handkerchief to push the button on the spigot. Do not drink it! Bless yourself, your family and your house with it.

If you have a chance, go outside and take a walk. Keep you distance from other people, but enjoy the outdoors. I am praying for all of you. Let us pray for each other. Thanks to all who are dropping off their contributions through the mail slot in the office door. We are continuing to pay all of our staff even while the office is closed. May the Lord free us from the pandemic soon.
