Coronavirus Update 4-7-20

Dear Parishioners,

Tonight there will be a full moon, the first full moon after the Spring equinox. That makes this Sunday the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring equinox, hence Easter Sunday.

I am finalizing plans for the Sacred Triduum. Deacon Klco and I will celebrate Holy Thursday and Good Friday in the rectory chapel. This will allow us to keep the Church open. The Church will stay open Holy Thursday until Midnight. The Blessed Sacrament will be in the tabernacle until then. On Good Friday we will have the Cross with the relic of the True Cross in the Church beginning at Noon. You should venerate it with a bow or genuflection. Do not kiss or touch it, please. The Stations of the Cross booklets will be on the bookshelf. You can do the Stations of the Cross inside the Church or use the outdoor stations in the field next to the Church. Please sanitize your hands before and after using the booklets.

The Easter Vigil has to be celebrated in the Church. We will have to lock the doors of the Church. It cuts me to the heart to think of this. The greatest celebration of the Liturgical Year and we have to keep people away. Deacon Klco and I will celebrate the Vigil at 8:15 pm. With the just the two of us, and much of the ceremony being suppressed, we should be done by 9:30 pm. We will leave the Church open until midnight again for private prayer.

The missalettes are in the pews. They have all the ceremonies for the Triduum. You can come to the Church and read through the liturgies yourself. Keep in mind that we are limited to ten people in the Church at the same time.

The Diocese of Turin will have a special live feed of the Shroud of Turin beginning at 11:00 am EDT on Saturday. More details to follow.

The number ofnew  Coronavirus cases has gone down compared to yesterday. We can all hope for the crest of this wave soon.

Have a Blessed Holy Week, Fr. LaHood
