Coronavirus Update 4-27-20

Dear Parishioners,

The Gospel goes back to the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves. Actually, it is the people trying to find him after that miracle. He implores the people to seek the food of everlasting life. After the Resurrection we see Jesus in a new light. We see his miracles pointing to his divine identity and to the sharing of his divine life that he will pour out to us through the Church.

There are signs of hope in the pandemic. Some states are coming out of quarantine. We will see how it works out. The hospitalizations in Maryland are down. This is the key indicater to let us know when we can go into phase one. I am already thinking of how we might have Mass in the parking lot. When we get to phase two, we may be able to have Mass in the gymnasium. That will give us lots of space to social distance. We are still planning on outdoor adoration on Sunday, weather permitting. Please keep in mind that I will still hear Confessions on the back patio of the new rectory Saturday afternoons from 4-5 pm.

Please pray for the soul of Annette Meyer. She was an old-time parishioner. She did not pass away from the virus. She will have a private funeral this week at the funeral home, as is normal for this time of pandemic.

We will have a seminarian this summer: Kyle Vance. Kyle is finishing second theology at Theological College in Washington. His home parish is St. John’s in Hollywood. I still have to work our with him his arrival time. Probably as late into June as possible so that he comes to a parish that is not completely locked-in.

God bless, Fr. LaHood
