Coronavirus Update 4-13-20

Dear Parishioners,

The number of new cases is in the 700s and the hospitalizations have gone down. Governor Hogan will be making an announcement at 5:00 pm this evening on the nex step in reopening. We can hope he will allow Churches to reopen soon.

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. We have many children waiting to receive their First Holy Communion. Two of the children who saw the apparition had not yet received their First Communion even though they were old enough. We can ask the intercession of Sts. Jacinta and Francisco for our First Comminicants. We can also ask their intercession during this pandemic as both of them died in the Spanish Flu epidemic. Here is a brief account of how they received their First Communion from an angel: https://aleteia.org/2020/05/13/the-eucharistic-miracle-that-occurred-at-fatima/

We have all heard about the terrible shooting of an African-American man in Georgia. Here is a statement by Archbishop Gregory, the former Archbishop of Atlanta, on this horrendous act:

Archbishop Gregory’s statement is linked here.

We will have Adoration in the parking lot again this weekend, unless the Governor allows us to have Mass. The weather forecast is a bit sketchy for Sunday. So, I’ll let you know on Friday the day and time.

God bless, Fr. LaHood
