School of Religion (CCD)

St. Mary of the Assumption offers religious education and sacrament preparation classes for children in grades 1-8. While the program exists for children enrolled in public or otherwise non-Catholic education, children who attend Catholic school are welcome to register for additional catechesis! St. Mary’s School of Religion (CCD) classes are held once weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 P.M. to 7:45 P.M (continue scrolling for more details).

The primary teachers and first catechists in a child’s life should always be their parent. However, sometimes we don’t always know how to answer all the questions our little ones have, or how to explain our faith to them in an organized, grade-appropriate, and pedagogical way. While it is always our job as parents to be the first to teach our children, especially about our faith, it is important and helpful, even, to receive help in guiding the faith formation of our little ones.

Building a foundation in Christ’s Church and Word while our children are young is essential to helping them learn to build a home for the Holy Spirit to dwell in for the rest of their time in school and well into their adulthood. As a parent, it’s your job to make sure that you set your child up for a future with Jesus always in the front of their minds and at the center of their entire life.

The School of Religion runs from mid-September through mid-May.

FIRST NIGHT BACK TO CCD

Our first night back in-person will be Tuesday, September 12^th, 2023 at St. Mary’s School. Parent attendance is mandatory the first night, as we will go over the plan for the year, present you with some updated info (including our new books!), and answer any questions you might have.

Please note: the children will be in class at that time, this is a parent/coordinator meeting.

Registration Fee:  $50.00 per child (up to two)

The deadline to submit your registration fee is September 12^th, 2023. Please pay with cash or a check written out to “St. Mary of the Assumption Church” (unfortunately we cannot accept digital payment at this time). The fee we charge covers the cost of books, materials, and other operating expenses.

Religious Education is vital for the spiritual formation of every child; therefore if your family is in need of financial assistance when registering for CCD, please contact Mr. Monfiston . No child will be denied if a family is going through financial hardship and unable to pay!

To better accommodate larger families, we offer a discount for those who are registering three or more children. The first two children are always $50.00 each, however for any child registered after the first two, the cost will be $25.00. Please see the below example to better illustrate this:
