Dear Parishioners,
Happy fourth Sunday of Easter. Today is also good shepherd Sunday. In John chapter 10 Jesus speaks of himself as the shepherd and as the gate through which the sheep pass. After his resurrection, he leads us back to the Father. That is what he is doing throughout history in the church. He came in through the gate, which is our human nature. Now, having taken and glorified our human nature in his own body, as members of his body he leads us to the final pasture, which is heaven.

The report today shows that the number of new COVID-19 cases has gone up by nearly 1000. Fortunately, the number of hospitalizations has gone down. That’s the good news. We continue to pray for those who have the virus, for the souls of those who have died from the virus, and to an end of this pandemic.

Today is also the feast of Saint Philip and James. Although, it is suppressed this year because of Sunday, we can pray to these two great saints for our needs today.
