Coronavirus Update 4-10-20
Dear Parishioners,
Today is the most solemn day in the Church calendar. The Passion and Death of our Lord pierces us to the heart. When we realize that He died for love of us and for love for His Father, we are truly filled with humility and gratitude. Ash Wednesday seems ages ago. But, it is today that the ashes speak most eloquently, as we realize that we are dust and to dust we shall return. But, this dust is so precious to the Lord, that He died that it may be raised to divine glory.
There is a livestream of the Holy Father’s Stations of the Cross at Noon our time. You can find it here: https://aleteia.org/2020/04/09/join-pope-francis-this-good-friday-live-from-rome-here/
The Church will be open all day. The cross with the relic of the True Cross will be in the sanctuary beginning at Noon. You can venerate it. You can do the Stations of the Cross and the Litany of the Sacred Heart. A reminder that I have confessions on the back patio of the new rectory from 10:00 am to Noon today and tomorrow.
Here is an interesting article by a Dominican priest defending the quarantine: https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2020/04/epidemic-danger-and-catholic-sacraments
I wish all of you a Blessed Good Friday. Fr. LaHood
