Dear Parishioners,

The report today shows a decrease in the number of hospitalizations and new cases. We can hope that the trend is positive enough to allow Churches to reopen soon. We still have openings for Adoration today. No one is signed up for 11:00-Noon. We have five spaces for Noon-1:00, five spaces for 1:00- 2:00 and eight spaces for 2:00-3:00. Being back in the Church is great. Praying before the Blessed Sacrament is great, also, especially during these troubled times.

I have some very happy news to pass along. We are having a Parochial Vicar assigned to us. Beginning July 8th Fr. Charles “Chip” Luckett will be assigned here. I feel confident we will be open by then. We will be able to welcome Fr. Chip to St. Mary of the Assumption and to Upper Marlboro. I thank Archbishop Gregory for sending Fr. Chip to us. He will be a big asset to our Parish. He will be coming from St. Jane deChantal in Bethesda. Pray for him as he makes this move.
