Coronavirus Update 5-29-20
Dear Parishioners,
First, I need to make a correction. I have been referring to Angela Alsobrooks as our County Commissioner. She is, in fact, the County Executive. I’m sorry for the mistake.
With the lifting of the stay at home order, we can reopen the office. The Parish Office will be open for business this coming Monday, June 1st, at 10:00 am. We ask that anyone coming to the office wear a face covering and maintain social distancing to the extent possible. Of course you can reach us by phone or e-mail.
On Monday we will welcome our summer seminarian Kyle Vance. Kyle will be entering his third year of theology in the Fall at Theological College in Washington. So, he is quite close to ordination. He is orginally from St. Mary’s County, having been a parishioner of St. John’s in Hollywood. I know you will greet him warmly.
I am still trying to work out what we can do under the modified Phase 1. The Archdiocese has not issued any guidelines as yet. Here is the statement from the Archdiocese: Both Prince George’s County and Montgomery County announced today that a limited reopening of a small number of sectors will be permitted beginning June 1, with certain provisions of the previous stay-at-home order being lifted. Most provisions of the closing of “non-essential” businesses continue to remain in effect. However, at this moment neither locality has released its official orders regarding this limited initial reopening. We will issue more information as soon as the orders are issued and can be reviewed.
In any event we will again have outdoor Adoration from Noon to 1:00 pm in the Church parking lot. I will again be hearing confessions on the back patio of the new rectory from 4-5 pm tomorrow, Saturday.
God bless you and your families, Fr. LaHood
