Coronavirus Update 3-30-20
Dear Parishioners,
The Coronavirus update for Maryland comes out at 10:00 am every morning. Here is the site: https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/
The number of new cases is up to 1413, an increase of 174 cases over yesterday. WBAL has a website with many useful graphs: https://www.wbaltv.com/article/maryland-coronavirus-in-numbers/31474817. One shows that since the 25th we have averaged about 200 new cases a day. This spiked yesterday when there was an increase of 247 from Saturday to Sunday. So, we can hope that the increase is slowing. Maybe, we can hope for a leveling off soon and then a decrease. It also shows that, to date, there are over 13,000 negative tests. In any event school campuses are closed until April 24th which means that we can probably expect social distancing, to some degree, will last that long.
The outdoor Adoration went very well yesterday. I had very good responses from those who came. I think we can take the next step of having outdoor Mass. The outside speaker system is quite good. Deacon Klco will work on the logistics. The biggest factor is the weather. Right now the forecast is for clear skies. But, forcasting in April is a tricky business. I will keep you up to date. We may have two Masses, on the late morning and one in the early afternoon. Hey, what else do we have to do? We will try to get into the warmer part of the day. Although, we cannot distribute Communion, being present for the Sacrifice allows us to participate in Our Lord’s sacrifice.
Keep checking on this pastor’s page. I try to update it between 10 and 11 am every morning. God bless you and your families. Fr. LaHood
